How Warmland Animal Clinic Came to Be

When I first envisioned Warmland Animal Clinic, I wasn’t just picturing exam rooms and X-ray
machines – I was imagining a heartbeat for the community. A place where animals could receive
top-notch care, families could feel seen and supported, and staff could thrive doing meaningful work.
It was more than a clinic. It was a calling.

The Roots of Warmland
The dream officially began to take shape in spring 2021, when the business was incorporated. But
the seed had been planted long before that, with a deep desire to serve the community of Lake
Cowichan in a way that didn’t yet exist-through a veterinary clinic that was fully equipped, truly
compassionate, and unshakably local.

We acquired the building in summer 2023, and with that, the real work began. Over the course of six
intense months, we renovated the space from top to bottom. We didn’t cut corners. Every
decision-from layout to lighting-was made with one goal in mind: to provide comprehensive,
same-day care in a warm, welcoming, state-of-the-art facility.

We officially opened our doors to the public on April 1st, 2024. No joke.

Designed with Purpose
Our clinic was built from the ground up with intention. We’re proud to offer:

– A full in-house lab for rapid diagnostics

– Digital full-body and dental X-rays

– A double in-house surgical suite

– Custom-built dog runs to prevent injury

– Separate dog and cat wards

– An isolation ward for contagious cases

– Advanced, fully electric wet and surgical tables

– Maximized vertical space to ensure functionality and comfort for all creatures (and humans) great
and small

But the innovation doesn’t stop there. We’re currently wrapping up construction on several key
features:

– A private euthanasia suite, completely separate from the main clinic, offering a serene space for
families to say goodbye with peace and dignity

– A staff gym, because caring for others starts with caring for ourselves

– Additional storage and office space, to support our growing team

Built for the Valley
This clinic isn’t just mine-it’s Lake Cowichan’s. I created Warmland Animal Clinic as a keystone for
the community. We’re here for the locals, for the surrounding areas, and for anyone willing to take
the scenic drive from Duncan or beyond. It’s worth the trip-not just for the quality of care, but for the
experience. We aren’t just clinical-we’re family. The building may be modern, but the feeling is pure
comfort.

A Culture of Care
Our team is everything. From our experienced techs to our warm-hearted receptionists, everyone
here is part of something bigger. We’ve cultivated a culture rooted in non-judgment, empowerment,
and transparency. Pet owners are met with respect, compassion, and options-always.

We believe that clients know their pets best. Our job is to support, inform, and walk alongside them
on the journey, whatever that looks like. That’s the heart of our practice.

Growing with You
We’re still growing-just like the town we serve. My long-term vision is to expand to a three- or
four-vet practice offering care seven days a week, while still maintaining our neighborhood feel and
same-day availability.

We’re open to collaboration with other clinics. There’s no exclusivity here-just shared goals. We’re a
small-town practice with a big-picture mindset.

Thank You for Believing in Us
To everyone who supported us through word-of-mouth, through encouragement, through choosing
us-we see you, and we’re grateful. This clinic was built for the long haul. Pets will always be part of
our lives, and Warmland Animal Clinic will always be here to care for them.
Here’s to growing, healing, and thriving-together.
